Paragraph (B) of the FERC Order Approving and Modifying the SMP issued on February 2, 1996, requires a five-year review and SMP revision process, including consultation with the appropriate resource management agencies and the WHOA. The Final SMP Update satisfies the five-year review requirement.

Duke Power will include a review of the implementation of the SMP Update and any necessary revisions in its application for relicense, provided it decides to pursue a new license. Duke Power also anticipates that any new license issued for the Catawba-Wateree Project would include new conditions that would command staff’s full attention for several years after license issuance. Therefore, Duke Power considers filing and implementation of this Final SMP Update as the final steps in the development of specific shoreline management plans for the Catawba-Wateree Project.
